Bio

Mariana Oliveira is a research analyst at WRI Brasil. In the Forests program, she supports the program's management and operational processes. She is currently focused on the programmatic contents related to gender issues and the application of the Restoration Opportunities Assessment Methodology (ROAM) at the subnational level in Brazil, supporting the development of analyzes and strategies for forest landscape restoration.

Mariana also contributes to Cities4Forests, an initiative focused on helping cities better conserve, manage, and restore inner forests (such as city trees and urban parks), nearby forests (such as green corridors and watersheds) and faraway forests (such as tropical and boreal forests). Mariana works closely with cities in Brazil to help them maximize benefits from trees and forests for water, air quality, biodiversity, climate, livelihoods and more.

Mariana has a BSc degree in Geography from São Paulo State University. During her studies, she has participated in several initiatives focused on entrepreneurship and also had the opportunity to contribute with Alcoa's corporate sustainability team in Brazil. Mariana has completed an environmental management post-graduate course at University of São Paulo, where she has developed research on ecosystem services.
