WASHINGTON (January 29, 2015)– The World Resources Institute announced that Kevin Moss will be the global director for its Business Center, which engages the private sector to advance corporate sustainability strategies worldwide. In this capacity, Moss will be a member of WRI’s global management team and will work with experts across the institute and its international offices.

WASHINGTON (January 12, 2015)— The World Resources Institute has appointed Dr. Nirarta “Koni” Samadhi, former deputy minister of Indonesia’s Unit for Development Monitoring and Oversight (UKP4), as the new country director of WRI Indonesia. Dr. Koni and WRI have worked together over many years, and he joins WRI Indonesia at a time when its work in the forest, land use, and governance sectors is expanding.

WASHINGTON— Senior representatives from the World Resources Institute (WRI), including President Andrew Steer, will hold a press call to provide insights and context for the upcoming UN Climate Summit. WASHINGTON (September 4, 2014)— Global Forest Watch, a dynamic online forest monitoring and alert system developed by the World Resources Institute with over 40 partners, has been selected as one of two winners of the Big Data Climate Challenge, a global competition hosted by United Nations Global Pulse. The UN announced the winners as part of the buildup to the UN Secretary-General’s Climate Summit on 23 September at UN Headquarters in New York.

WASHINGTON (August 5, 2014)— Singapore’s Parliament passed the Transboundary Haze Pollution Act 2014 which allows regulators to prosecute companies and individuals that cause severe air pollution in Singapore by burning forests and peatlands in neighboring countries. The legislation was first proposed after fires in Indonesia spiked in June 2013, engulfing Singapore in haze.

JAKARTA, INDONESIA— As the dry season begins in Indonesia, the risk of fires and haze is growing.
