New Climate Federalism: Meeting the Climate Change Challenge at the Federal, State, and Local Levels

A dynamic discussion with state and local leaders about the optimal roles for each level of government in addressing climate change

U.S. state and local governments continue to demonstrate leadership in addressing the climate challenge, filling the void left by the federal government. Effectively meeting the climate challenge will, however, require a strong federal response. Given the scale and urgency of the challenge, it will be important for each level of government to capitalize on its strengths.

Join our October 6 webinar for a dynamic discussion with state and local leaders about the optimal roles for each level of government in addressing climate change. The webinar will include the presentation of a new WRI report on New Climate Federalism: Defining Federal, State, and Local Roles in a U.S. Policy Framework to Achieve Decarbonization. The paper is the result of the New Climate Federalism Dialogue, a WRI convening of thought leaders among current and former U.S. federal, state, and local government officials, and includes principles to guide the development of federal climate policy.
